Moving out in Merton: tennis fortnight, check-outs and timing

If your tenancy ends in late June or early July and you live near Wimbledon Park, check the tennis dates before you book the van. While the Championships are on, Merton closes part of Church Road to most traffic during the day, and temporary parking controls cover the streets around it. A removal in a quieter week, or early in the morning, saves a lot of waiting about.

Across the rest of the borough, the check-out inspection shapes what happens to your deposit. Rented homes here range from Victorian and Edwardian terraces in South Wimbledon, some now split into flats, to the semis that went up in Raynes Park in the 1930s and in Morden after the Underground arrived in 1926. Each type trips up tenants differently: dusty period skirting and tiled hearths in the older streets, greasy extractor hoods and smeared patio doors in the semis.

SW20, covering Raynes Park and West Wimbledon, is one of the districts where we work most, and we cover the rest of the borough out to Mitcham and the St Helier estate. Only book the clean once every box is out. An empty home is easier to inspect and keeps our re-clean guarantee valid.

Homes we clean

Merton properties and what we focus on

Victorian flats in South Wimbledon

South Wimbledon's quieter streets hold Victorian, Edwardian and interwar terraces, some converted into flats. In a conversion we check the parts an inventory tends to describe closely: fireplaces and hearths, window sills, bathroom sealant and the inside of every kitchen cupboard.

1930s semis in Raynes Park and Morden

Most of Raynes Park was built up in the 1930s, and Morden grew fast once its Tube station opened in 1926. In these semis we give extra time to kitchen units, the extractor, patio or garden doors and built-in wardrobes before the keys go back.

St Helier estate houses, Morden

The London County Council built this cottage estate in the 1930s, and about 3,500 of its homes are in Morden. These are family houses with gardens, so the clean covers the stairs, every bedroom and the back door area where outdoor dirt comes in.

FAQ

End of Tenancy Cleaning in Merton: questions

Is end of tenancy cleaning charged by the hour in Merton?

No. It is a one-off job, priced by the size of the home and starting at £120. You know the total before the day, however long the team needs. Carpet or upholstery cleaning can be added at an extra cost if your tenancy agreement asks for it.

Will the Wimbledon Championships affect my move-out?

It can if you live close to the All England Club. Road closures and extra parking controls around the grounds make removal vans slow to arrive and hard to park for those two weeks. Plan your van and your clean for another week if the tenancy dates allow, or start early in the day.

Do you clean houses on the St Helier estate and in Mitcham?

Yes. We cover the whole of Merton, including Morden, St Helier, Mitcham and Colliers Wood, as well as Wimbledon and SW20. Family houses there are priced from the full price list according to their size. Use the booking form and we confirm a fixed price before you commit.

What does your end of tenancy guarantee cover?

If the letting agent or landlord points out something that was our omission, report it within 72 hours and we return to re-clean those items at no charge. It applies when the property was already empty of your belongings during the clean and nobody went back in to use it afterwards.

Should I book the clean before or after the removal van?

After. The team needs empty rooms to reach skirting, floors and the inside of cupboards, and carrying furniture out later brings dust and scuffs straight back in. It also matters for the guarantee, which only applies when your belongings were already out during the clean.
